Apple has just launched a new version of Safari 4 Beta(their web browser). Reading some of the reviews of Safari 4 Beta, I thought I should try it out. As soon as I got my hands on it I saw the dark side of it. I don’t know what people have found interesting in it and are giving it positive reviews. Well I think it’s a shit browser and I will explain it how it sucks.
You need to buy a super computer for it as has compatibility and performance issues, one of my friend Imran Hussain who blogged on Safari 4 beta in his post: “Who needs Chrome? The new amazing Safari 4 Beta is here! “, was found tweeting after half an hour “Safari 4 beta is using my ram as if Apple owns it WTF/!?” and also “Warning! Twitter Follow button doesn’t work in Safari 4 Beta”. 2 GB ram is not enough for Safari, bring more bitch.
A friend of mine tested it on Windows 7 and with just 7 websites opened, it was using 144.6 MB of RAM!
Apple was screwing Microsoft during whole vista period saying they have copied some of their features, and now they are not even ashamed of copying Google chrome’s look. See how similar they are:![]()
They have forcedly made a sucking browser for Windows that works good on Mac to prove that applications run better on Mac and not on PC.
I tried its visual history feature on my low end PC but that didn’t worked and my screen was stuck for 2 minutes. I was busted by my father as I was trying this feature. My father was shocked and angry to see my browsing history.

Bro this is a beta software so it likely to have unoptimized performance and glitches. On my vista machine Firefox uses more memory than any other browser would. Its not that I am an apple fanboy but I welcome the spirit of competition with all these new browsers coming up.
My firefox uses 260 Mb.
It’s because I have opened many tabs.
I think you just don’t like mac
and you’re trying to get more traffic
btw, i NEVER use BETA suff.
yo,
im a really big apple fan,
but i have to say…
this browser, even considering the fact that its still in beta testing,
i must say,
SUCKS
I know that its a beta version of safari 4, but doesn’t matter few things didn’t worked for me which i blog about. Like visual history due to which i got busted secondly coverflo which bust my ram.
I have used safari3, I haven’t seen a browser which renders images more smoothly than any other browser, so i am not against apple. I use there products like i pod and soon will be getting my hands on iphone.
Why does all the tech savy people say “Apple is copying Chrome with the top sites feature”. WTH are you all talking about? Chrome copied Opera, then Safari copied everyone. And why do you care about copying, jeez, everyone copies each other, that’s how things work. You take an existing idea and make is better (or worse) You guys are like kids.
Microsoft is way too old, their programmers (if alive lol) needs to rewrite their system, and that won’t happen. In 10 years, Microsoft will be gone in the operating system business.
I think Google copied Opera when they put the top sites menu so try not to give them (Google) that much credit, plus on my mac, Safari is by far the fastest browser I have used and like Hamid said above this beta is just that so I am not sure why people think it is not going to be buggy as all hell.
Hahahaahaha
both of you are an idiots “A friend of mine tested it on Windows 7 and with just 7 websites opened, it was using 144.6 MB of RAM!”
Ok, let me explain.
The ram is not increased by the number of pages your open, but for the sites you are opening.
I have been surfing about 4 hours and safari4 is not higher than 180mb/ram.
This considering I have 1GB ram, 180 is nothing.
“I was busted by my father as I was trying this feature. My father was shocked and angry to see my browsing history.”
Well, the “visual history” works fine to me, even with working with illustrator and photoshop open (working on 300ppi poster/tabloid size).
I have to say I expected a little more, but still beta and as beta Im not disappointed at all, works fine, its fine.
But yeah, It needs a lot of developing on it performance yet.
pages load slowly but performance really improved. uses about 80mb ram. but it looks like windows app and i dont think its good looking. i’d prefer safari 3
I didn’t like how Safari always used so much memory and often caused slow-down’s on my older PC. Once I got my newer PC with more RAM, it worked better. The sleek, visual interface is nice, but I prefer Firefox.
I downloaded it thinking OMG SAFARI 4 ITS GOING 2 KICK ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
after downloading it i realized it sucked. the worst part about it was that in Safari 3 there was the blue that went across the url that used to show how much the page has loaded was gone! So, i tried to download the older version of the program but it says:
SORRY BUT YOU HAVE A NEWER VERSION OF SAFARI ON YOUR MAC
it English: YOUR COMPLELTY FUCKED AND CANT GET THE OLD SAFARI AND YOUR STUCK WITH THIS SHITTY ONE!!!!!!!!!

It was a meh piece of software. The Top Sites/Visual History features didn’t work on my computer even though Cover Flow in iTunes does so perfectly.
FAIL.
Safari 4 Has been released for the OS X and Windows Operating systems recently, and I have to say it is better than it’s BETA versions in many ways.
As to the top sites feature, I believe something similar has been on Opera for quite some time now- Possible even before Google Chrome. People like it, why shouldn’t they use it? Nobody’s complaining.
By the way- Safari 4 has been working on my Windows XP SP2 2GB RAM smoothly for some time now, and it’s been perfect on my PowerBook G4 10.4.11 Tiger 1GB RAM Laptop.
I downloaded Safari 4 as an update and it is a big piece of poo. Bring back the old design. Don’t fix something that isn’t broken. I went back to 3.1. Much faster and easier on the eye.
Safari 4 SUCKS!!!!
I am running OS X Leopard on my new iMac, and I think it sucks! I am one of those people who keep a bunch of tabs and windows open, but it really kills my computer, and it shouldn’t! With 10 windows open and 19 tabs open (as I type this), Safari uses 626 MB of my 2 GB of RAM!!!! Every time I try to open a new tab, I get the spinning beachball on the ‘Top Sites’ screen for 5 minutes. I hate this piece of shit browser.
