Wow, I feel like I read something from someone who has no idea what they are talking about. Windows is better because it is harder to use and messier? I am not a mac fan… this article just accomplished nothing. Windows is a buggy piece of crap… sure it claims to let you do alot… and with all of the multiple reminders asking you over and over again spooking non-nerds — it makes it really easy to do so. What can you customize on a pc that you cannot on mac or linux? Also the side by side comparison… those are a bunch of inane corrections windows had to add because the core of its software is designed so poorly.
September 18th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
This one hit you hard i guess :p great post guys!
September 18th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
Hmm… what can you customize on a PC that you can’t on a Mac? The hardware, the software, the OS…. oh the list goes on but I think that sums it up. Side note: Linux runs on PC’s. The term “PC” refers to an x86 machine, not just Windows. If Mac ran on something like x86 design, it might be worth it.
September 18th, 2008 at 6:47 pm
Haha, thats awesome…
Mac. Nobody gives a shit.
September 18th, 2008 at 6:53 pm
Windows is not “a buggy piece of crap” (I’m going to ignore vista, that’s like trying to get a blind kit to catch a ball) 80% of errors bugs, crashes are from people installing tons and tons of random applications, and using their computer poorly. I have XP SP3 and I have never had a crash, error, or bug that can be attributed to windows itself. When firefox crashes it’s because I have 17 tabs open and I load up java while I’m streaming video. Thanks to service packs and constant updates, windows xp has become quite stable.
People like Mac cause it’s hip, and it has training wheels. Most stuff on Mac is pretty straight forward and simple. It’s a decent system for people who know nothing about computers and don’t know how to get good performance for their money. I have only used a Mac for an extended amount of time once, and that was for about 5 days. It was a iMac (one of the most recent ones) and it crashed 4 times. All I was doing was running the browser and Heroes of Might and Magic 4, not exactly demanding on resources. When it crashed, I got no notification, no debug, no nothing. All that happened was that everything froze and I had to hard-reboot it. (which was hard to do considering the button just sent it into hibernate and brought it back up frozen.) The third time I thought I would just leave it and see if it unfroze. After sleeping and going to work, (about 15 hours total) I came back and it was still completely frozen.
Anyways, XP doesn’t suck, and Macs aren’t as amazing as people like to say.
September 18th, 2008 at 6:59 pm
Jeremy, you said:
“If Mac ran on something like x86 design, it might be worth it.”
It does. Since 2006. Currently using Intel Core 2 Duo and Intel Xeon. If you have time to waste, you can even install Windows Vista on it. In fact it was in 2007 the fastest computer to run Vista:
Please educate yourself before posting somthing on the web. Thank you.

Dear “Someone,”
When you correct another person for not being educated, it’s a bad idea to then misspell a word in your correction.
The word you want is “something” not “somthing.”
Please educate yourself before correcting someone on the web. Thank you.

oi, ya cant fck witta mac pro now matter how hardja try. true about games tho, but mac users don be wastin dez lives away playin dumb liddle video games. dez be doin some real work.

It didn’t cost me a dime to switch to Ubuntu, and it’s significantly less infuriating than dealing with confinement to either corner of the market.
September 18th, 2008 at 7:21 pm
Mac are computers especially designed for idiots….I mean Mommys and Daddys.
If this offends any Mac users please right click somthing.

“Most stuff on Mac is pretty straight forward and simple. It’s a decent system for people who know nothing about computers and don’t know how to get good performance for their money.”
Wait, how many professional movies are cut/edited on macs? Yeah, that’s right, all of them, in Final cut. And BTW it’s not just movies. Professional music recording, photo editing, designing and all sorts of professional stuff are made on macs not on PC’s.
And real gamers doesn’t play on a PC, nor on a mac. Real gamers play on consoles and pay for the games worth playing!
PC’s are made for poor people who can’t afford to buy games or a real computer.
September 18th, 2008 at 7:41 pm
I just have to comment on this:
“Thanks to service packs and constant updates, windows xp has become quite stable.”
Erhm… Windows XP has been out in SEVEN years and it has became QUITE stable… GREAT work microsoft! It took you SEVEN, i repeat SEVEN years to make something QUITE stable.
Hooray for microsoft! (or not)
September 18th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
I love reading this kind of stuff. Of course, it’s really fun when you grow up and start working on computers. Then you can’t have some silly “I hate this OS” reaction to anything because your boss expects you to work with the hardware you’ve got. I’m OS-agnostic because at my office I’m expected to support Macs and Windows machines. I also administer our Linux servers.
Strangely enough regardless of OS, they perform the functions they were purchased for. Except for one web designer who’d rather have a mac, I’ve never heard anyone complain about the operating system they’re using on their work computer.
So I can’t help but think the whole thing is pretty childish. It’s especially silly coming from the Windows side. Microsoft Windows owns over 80% of the market for personal computer operating systems. All the press fawning aside, the Macintosh OS is a niche operating system at best. The war mentality of so many Windows fans out there towards the Macintosh OS is the equivalent of the United States attacking the Vatican City.
So couldn’t everybody just grow the f*** up?

Guybrush,
Avid Vs. FCP
I don’t know if you are unaware or just choose to be ignorant but needless to say Avid still has a firm grip on video editing.
You probably will not be back to read this, but I thought I should post this, as the “OMG Final Cut Pro” seems to be a fan boy argument of choice.
as I believe some above me said, educate yourself before you educate us.
~G
September 18th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
G, you are right. Most big movies and TV-shows are still being edited in Avid, on macs!
It doesn’t matter which software you are using, Avid, Final cut or Adobe premiere. Most of the time it is on a mac! And the fact that all three was made mac-only from the start should tell you something of which platform the major editing is made on.
September 18th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
Macs are simply limited. They do have a lot of capability to them, and they work okay as long as you only run one program at a time. In short, they are the training wheels to computers as someone above said. And FCP? How many people use that in their day to day lives? Outside of the movie industry, where they could easily get customer specific computers for a fraction of their income, they would use elite software like that. The only cool thing about macs is Garage Band. I love that program, even though I am a pc user.
Also, for all you Vista haters, read about Windows Mojave!
September 18th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Problems with this:
Minesweeper comes with windows, not macs. I played Quake 3 far more on a mac than I ever did on a pc.
“Mac OS X for Intel supports the NX bit and PAE on all CPUs supported by Apple (from 10.4.4 - the first Intel release - onwards).” - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NX_bit#Mac_OS_X . I didn’t check the rest.
It’s very simplistic to say that the only reasons macs don’t have viruses is that they are less popular. Linux makes up the majority of servers which makes them a brilliant target - high bandwidth for ddosing people etc. Still nowhere near as many viruses. Mac os x is derived from secure systems including freebsd and NEXTSTEP.
I’m pretty sure stan uses one of the new imacs in season 12 of south park. Maybe that was shelley.
September 18th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
Macs can run windows *better* than any PC.
Mac: (stupid people) don’t give a shit
dumbass
September 18th, 2008 at 8:42 pm
Limited? That’s strange, I can’t think of anything you can’t do on a mac that you can do on a PC, can you?
Run only one program at a time? Why in earth would you do that, i love multi-tasking? I currently run firefox (8 tabs), photoshop, skype, MSN, transmission, quicktime, excel, textedit, mail and iTunes (also a time machine backup every hour). And my MacBook (2.5GB RAM) still works perfectly, so i guess you can’t claim that it only works good when running one program at a time.
Hmm… maybe i should open up parallels too, just for kicks?
September 18th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Well, I started off with Macs for years, and had to switch because our work place administrators wanted everyone with “PCs”. I liked Macs better. nuf said
September 18th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Macs are for pretentious losers with failure computer skills. Their Design is twee and their OSes are insulting.
September 18th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
linux > mac > windows.
macos, linux, and windows all run on x86 hardware.
windows haters most likely haven’t tried macs.
what’s the number one notebook computer bought by college students? macbooks.
guess what? macs aren’t going anywhere for a long time.
the right-click jokes are cliched nowadays. ever hear of a mighty mouse?
by the way, ever hear of parallels? or vmware fusion? one can run xp/vista side-by-side with macos - without having to reboot.
installing/uninstalling most programs is much easier on macs - just download the dmg file, and drag 1 file to your application folder.
the one thing i hate about macos, however, is the objective-c language. why? just use C/C++.
.net sucks.
although everything i’ve said above is true,
linux FTW.
September 18th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
Why do we have to judge people solely on which OS they run??? Why not judge them from what they accomplish.
That’s great if every film person and photographer I know can do some spiffy art on photoshop, great! fantastic.
I’d stick with my windows so that I can run Satellite Tool Kit, CAD software, 3D Cad software, labview, altium, any professional software really (at the same time).
September 18th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
They’re just like… Operating Systems for computers like. Guys, you seriously need to calm down. This isn’t an interesting type of digital nationalism.

Quote from Guybrush
“And real gamers doesn’t play on a PC, nor on a mac. Real gamers play on consoles and pay for the games worth playing!”
“PC’s are made for poor people who can’t afford to buy games or a real computer.”
Come on, you can’t possibly believe this…
First of all, who are real gamers?
Secondly, the last time I checked, PC’s capable of running decent games cost more than normal games consoles. Also the RRP’s of new games, PC or other console are pretty much the same. The main reason more people play on consoles is because it’s a lot cheaper and you can have multiplayer.
Thirdly, pretty much all the best games for Xbox or PS have come out on the PC.
I love my mac and my PC. I just wish my mac was worth all the extra money…

I was walking to the Martyns(my local Supermarket)last Tuesday to get some shaving razors. The damn place was CLOSED!!! Anyway, there is a computer store on my route. When I was passing there was a demonstration going on in which to tech guys were setting up their two different computers(One PC, One Mac). One guy was all for PCs, the other guy wouldn’t stop raving about his new Mac. I forget the SPEC’s of the machines besides the operating systems, XP Prof SP3 & OSX respectively. Anyway the challenge was to see which guy coulds set up his machine and run 50 cross platform apps in the leasts amount of time without the machine crashing or freezing. The time limit was set at three minutes and the contest was due to start 14:30. But at 14:25 the power went out in the computer store. Whats the moral of the story. Don’t go to to Martyns Supermarket on Tuesday to buy shaving razors. Its closed on Tuesday!

guybrush,
‘ And real gamers doesn’t play on a PC, nor on a mac. Real gamers play on consoles and pay for the games worth playing!
PC’s are made for poor people who can’t afford to buy games or a real computer.’
WHAT?
First of all, pcs are a much better platform for games, for one there are customizable (in terms of hardware at least) so you only need to buy what you need, not a whole new model, and pc gamers can buy games too, and you can pirate games on consoles as well (not saying you should). btw, consoles are often more expensive(or around the same price) than/as pcs and pcs can do a lot more.

I like bacon, I find it very tasty and best when crispy. It is mostly eaten as a breakfast food, however I find it to be equally tasty at any meal. It goes well in sandwiches, it can be eaten with pancakes or in soup. I might even go so far as to claim that it is the most versatile food in the world. It’s even healthy! Why I think that if YOU don’t like bacon, then there must be something wrong with you. Maybe you should seek counseling of some kind.
September 19th, 2008 at 12:34 am
I have a PC.
It sucks and I hate it. It cost way too much money considering that it ALWAYS has a problem. The two times I have called for help, I was told by someone who barely speaks English that I must be imagining it or that it wasn’t their problem.
I think I’d like to try a Mac.
September 19th, 2008 at 12:34 am
All computers are rubbish! No-one can even produce a graphics driver that works for my PC laptop… Any other product that cost a few hundred £s, $s or whatever would work, whereas we all for some reason accept the fact that computers will constantly crash. Even a car for £500 can be more reliable than any PC I’ve ever seen. So the argument between PCs or Macs is irrelevant. A computer is a tool, that is supposed to make life/work more efficient, but actually wastes more time than it saves. Stop having geeky arguments about which is best, face up to the fact that is doesn’t matter & go do something OUTSIDE!
It’s better, I promise.
September 19th, 2008 at 12:46 am
if pc’s suck so much, why is bill gates, the richest man in the world? oh and bill gates is the owner of microsoft. (for you stupid mac owners.)

what really sucks is this post mac is better and it always will be
September 19th, 2008 at 1:10 am
I use a Mac book pro, it’s crashed a couple of times however it just works every other time which suits me fine. It’s not perfect, what is?
I’m not fond of Windows Operating systems, have been a ex user for over 10 years.
The best thing I ever did was go Mac (I’ve tried Linux)
I really don’t see why there is so much hype to hate Macs or Mac users, why bother - what is it going to achieve?
Windows has done a good job of proving it self to be less reliable than a Mac, why would I need to start ranting about how bad windows OS is - we all know which one is better.
September 19th, 2008 at 1:31 am
I don’t hold anything against any of the OSes. They all have a different purpose. However, they said many times that Macs run Windows better than PCs. Macs run Office better than PCs. You’re still paying Microsoft for it. Apple needs to make OSX run on every platform like Microsoft has. And sell Mac OSX to PC owners. I’m sure they’d switch, because Apple hardware is too expensive.
September 19th, 2008 at 1:33 am
The price isn’t worth it for a Mac. I work with them a lot at school- both the Macs and the Dells are hooked up to the same server and I can 100% guarantee I always pick the Dell over the Mac.
I don’t mind if others like Macs- my first computer was a Mac, but I’ll always prefer Windows.
I haven’t tried Linux yet, but I’m sure I’d like it too. Highly customizable, which is always nice.
September 19th, 2008 at 1:48 am
ok noobs heres how it is. mac cant do shit. user friendly= no custimization and if u say u cant custimize then u a fogzor noob who doesnt no shit about computers and should go back to telegraph go play wow u fag
September 19th, 2008 at 1:48 am
One thing PC users can do that Macs can’t
and beyond that, my $50 beef with Macs…
Look at their mouse.
Look at how nice this mouse look. Caress it with your eyes…
then try putting your hand around it and use it. You_Can’t.
There’s no good way to hold it. Most every other manufacturer of comp mice pays attention to ergonomics, but Mac is so stuck on making a piece of art that they forget people use their hands more than their eyes with computer mice.More importantly, right-clicking sucks. I say Function over Form, but Apple disagrees. Maybe if they stopped oogling it and self-stimulating themselves to it’s simple-yet-sleek curves and actually put their hand on the mouse and tried using it they’d see how much it sucks.Even if you already have an Apple mouse ($50 thru apple store) go get a logitech optical mouse, maybe for $35 or less at Best Buy. The $15+ savings will be trounced by the savings of time, less stress, and saved brain power.Brain power? Yes, brain power.MacWorld describes it this way. “The force-sensing buttons proved a little difficult to use in my testing. When I wanted to use them, I had to stop, locate the buttons with my fingers, and squeeze with the proper degree of intensity, which was more difficult than it needed to be.”I want to think as little as possible when I do a simple task as right-click. The shitty ability of the right clicker translates to mistakes. You die in games. But more importantly, you mess up when trying to complete simple (or complex) tasks in photoshop or other work-related programs. If you’ve got a project due for a client in 8 hours the last thing you want to think about is right-clicking, and the last thing you want to do is go back through the menues or wait 5 extra seconds for the computer to undo the mistake caused to a 300mb+ file.Function_over_Form. But apparently that’s not what the ” Mac Community ” is about. Ditch this spoon-fed corporate propoganda, and don’t pay money for a product that looks nice but is of inferior ability and quality.-CtB

o yea and loclyn u cant say shit cus u aint used pc in ten years
September 19th, 2008 at 2:44 am
Okay, this is about Windows Suck, not Apple sucks.
September 19th, 2008 at 3:28 am
well, i think any1 arguing pro windows is very misguided but I think the issue here is more of a combination of hardware and the os. Windows sucks, bill gates is a gremlin (steve Jobbs is a shit headed little kid), and macs are good for people who dont know what theyr doing. so for a certain market there great! but for those of us who even know what an os is its a poor match. If u argue “microsoft os sucks mac is better”, u may have somthing but pc’s arnt all running os MS are they? no linux or ubuntu is a great alternative that makes the pc a far better choice for any individual who knows the difference.

“Wait, how many professional movies are cut/edited on macs? Yeah, that’s right, all of them, in Final cut. And BTW it’s not just movies. Professional music recording, photo editing, designing and all sorts of professional stuff are made on macs not on PC’s.”
Guybrush, stfu. The only reason why Macintosh is used in the industry is because Macintosh has a brutal advertising campaign. They just weaseled their way into every part of the market and convinced a few powerful people to switch over.
In reality, Mac is a pathetic. Never before has so much debate go on about something so obselete when compared to a windows pc (btw, microsoft makes about 100x more than macintosh every single year) or any other pc. what bothers me is that macintosh bases their entire advertising campaign just on being better than windows. alot of shit is better than windows. but it works.
If you like Mac better than windows, than you probably just got fooled by clever advertising.
If you argue with that statement, you’re just being an elitist douche, no matter which way you pull it EVEN if you’re right.
You cant convince people to stop using Windows. Macintosh should go somewhere else with their advertising.
and Guybrush, wow you’re bugging me.
“And real gamers doesn’t play on a PC, nor on a mac. Real gamers play on consoles and pay for the games worth playing!
PC’s are made for poor people who can’t afford to buy games or a real computer”
you sir are the biggest console fag i’ve ever encountered. EVER. Consoles are just pc’s with more than half the functionality taken out. Consoles are lame compared to any PC, no reason to bring them up in adult conversation.
Oh, and btw, Call of duty 4 is coming out on MacDVD september 22nd 2008, and Call of duty 5 of coming out november 14, 2008 for Windows.
Mac Fails.
September 19th, 2008 at 4:09 am
damn november 11*
September 19th, 2008 at 4:09 am
Guys,
I just want to say that a computer is a computer, there really is no outstanding advantage singling out Macs or PCs or PCs over Macs. This argument is like trying to decide whether you should buy a Ford, Toyota, Mazda, Volkswagen, Mitsubishi, Chevy or whatever other kinds of car makers there are. Each one does the same thing overall, the difference is what you want to be able to do with it. If you are a construction worker, you are likely to get an SUV or a pick up truck. If you are just a regular business man or woman, you are likely to get a regular 4 door sedan. The point is you pick out your model based on what you are looking for.
I like PCs, I have a Vista laptop, and an XP desktop. My friend is a die hard mac fan, he used to love PCs but switched over. I have never had a problem with either OS, what I have noticed though is that Macs are organized to be as simple at troubleshooting problems as possible, this makes them a likely nomination for “new” users, aka Moms or Dads. If you are looking to go hardcore on a mac, and edit videos play games, multi-task, you can do this too, but like anything it uses up processing speeds and memory. Taking a computer to its limits will crash or freeze any system. I have my Vista, I like Vista, its pretty much the same as XP but a lot more ‘eye candy.’ Because of this some things load a little slower, but nothing that you can’t wait 1 second for. If you can’t wait one second, create a computer that works off your brain, ok? Vista has crashed on me, the “Blue Screen of Death” but it had nothing to do with Vista, it had to do with scripting issues in the Rhapsody Music Player. The fact that it crashed while I was using Vista only supports peoples decisions that Vista is terrible and I tell this to my friend, the die hard mac lover. He laughs and recommends for me to get a mac, you can do so much more. But I have noticed something with his brand of computers. See my friend boasts about the macs so much that whenever something goes wrong with it he doesn’t say anything or bring it up. He installed Vista and XP on his mac, and also started using parallels. He had to restore the mac os because his macbook continued to crash. When I bring it up to him, he shrugs it off that it has nothing to do with a mac or its os, he never gives a reason though. In the 2 years that he has been a mac-fanatic he is currently on his third macbook, because of faulty issues, crashing and system restore problems.
In the 10 years I have had computers, I have only had three, I still have two of them, the vista laptop I am typing on right now, and an xp desktop. The only computer I got rid of was a desktop pc….it was running Windows 95….sorry but it had to go, technology doesn’t wait for others, it keeps moving along, so I got another computer after ‘95 became obsolete.
What I am trying to say guys is that mac or PC, they both do the same thing. You can customize both, and which one you choose is a personal decision, as I stated before like buying a car. If you are into extensive gaming, you are probably going to buy a PC. Yes Mac’s have the capabilities to run computer games, but the games are geared towards PCs and consoles, and Macs are not part of the norm when games are released. This is why many Macs receive their games after the initial release. If you are looking for a basic computer nothing special, you can use a Mac or a PC, at this point it would be whichever OS you like better, i.e. Windows Format or Mac Format.
There are pros and cons to both, I really just hate when people are not objective, they become so lulled into a belief without looking at the whole picture, stick yourself outside the debate as if you had neither product, which one would you choose and why? which one would most people choose for computing and why?

Enjoy your 10% market share (or is it less now?)
mac fags.
September 19th, 2008 at 4:52 am
if you really care so much about a computer that your dont own you should really take a look at your life and think about what it is lacking, fulfillment, affection, love, hell even conversations with the opposite sex.
oh hold on, now i think about it i can relate!!!
iv got a kawai upright piano that only has one pedal for sustain, its cracking in areas and three keys don’t work. and il tell you what, I HATE PEOPLE WITH BRAND NEW YAMAHAS THEY ARE SO USELESS WITH THEIR WORKING KEYS AND THREE PEDALS TO ALTER TONE AND EXPRESSION, HOW DARE THEY JUST ENJOY PLAYING MUSIC THEY LOVE WHILE I HAVE TO COMPROMISE BY NOT PLAYING SONGS THAT HAVE MY MISSING NOTES IN, AND SPENDING ALL MY MONEY GETTING IT TUNED EVERY THREE WEEKS BECAUSE THE FRAME IS SO POORLY MADE AND HAS WARPED. oh god soon it wont work at all and and il have to go and buy another cheap piano and let the nightmare start again, or,,,,, i could just get a ,,,, YAMAHA!!? nah fuck it il just post on the the internet about how much i hate yamaha’s, and all the other poor musicians will sympathize with me under the guise of united superiority, the loud voice of the majority. most of the world is impoverished after all…
ho hum WELL AT LEAST DON’T HAVE ANY COMPARATIVE PROBLEMS WITH MY MAC. ^_^ XOX
September 19th, 2008 at 5:00 am
My OS is better than yours! I know so, because you suck! I can play all the latest games so that means I also have a larger penis than you. You fail. Etc, etc, etc.
Look at me, I’m defending a product that I purchased on a website with silly images that poke fun at that product. Wouldn’t my parents be proud? …
September 19th, 2008 at 5:10 am
Zack, I’ve never seen such a long comment that had less of a point.

“Guybrush, stfu. The only reason why Macintosh is used in the industry is because Macintosh has a brutal advertising campaign. They just weaseled their way into every part of the market and convinced a few powerful people to switch over.”
Max, clearly you haven’t done your history lessons. Macintosh was used in the movie industry LOOOONG before Apple started advertising it. So please consider learning before coming and claiming a bunch of lies.
“Consoles are just pc’s with more than half the functionality taken out. Consoles are lame compared to any PC, no reason to bring them up in adult conversation.”
Gaming were born on consoles! And i can’t see what more i could want on my PS3, i watch all my DVD and Blu-ray movies on it, i can (if i want) go and surf the web on it, but i don’t because computers are better for browsing. I wouldn’t be happier if my PS3 could do as much as my computer, cus i wouldn’t use it for that.
To sum this up, consoles are carefully designed for gaming, and gaming ONLY! Computer gaming is only a very small portion of the computer industry, but you get a good amount of useless buttons with it and a whole lot of new games that you can’t play, cus the graphics. And if you have a really good gaming computer that you play with it is still equally expensive to a console.
“Enjoy your 10% market share (or is it less now?)
mac fags.”
It’s actually increasing

hahaha this is great. yeah i have a mac. i do like it. it doesnt have that many game out for it, bit that really doesnt bother me or else i would have switched to a windows… i have used macs at home and PCs at school/ other places since i dont know when. i know how to use both, but i just like macs better. thats what it comes down to for me. i know some people like windows better…thats just them.
you all have made good, bad and very much retarded comments… but the fact of the matter is that i like my mac and i will never buy windows unless there is some killer app. that comes out. i dont see that happening any time soon… for me at least. but if it does i might switch.
there is no sense arguing whos system is better, its like trying to argue someone into converting to your religion or switching to your political party. it just causes people to start name calling and acting immature. like this :
“o yea and loclyn u cant say shit cus u aint used pc in ten years”
or
“Mac are computers especially designed for idiots….”
grow the fuck up and then move the fuck on. pick which one make sense for you then use that fucking computer. god damn.

Not to sound like an 8 year old, but they (the Mac fanboys) started it. PC users couldn’t care less about Macs and Mac users until Apple chose to make their entire marketing campaign an attempt to trash PCs; the ads are insulting and offensive. You have to expect some reactions to that, and you have to expect that not all of those reactions are going to be friendly; you fight with fire, expect burns.
That, and the smarmy I’m better than you elitist wanna be anti-conformists that get all warm and fuzzy when they tell everyone how much better they and their Mac are. FYI: PCs are diverse, as there are literally 100s of makers… while Macs, are anything but anti-conformist.
Generally, people don’t just stand idly by while being insulted, and I find it offensive that you think they should. How about Mac users shut the hell up about PCs huh?
It has nothing to do with the hardware or OS, though. It’s all about… Adobe.
Adobe products, unlike most software, are made for Macs first, and PCs later. Therefore, in order to get the best graphics package suite, you have to have a Mac. Were Adobe to switch over, Macs would die a very quick death.
September 19th, 2008 at 7:46 am
“Hmm… what can you customize on a PC that you can’t on a Mac? The hardware, the software, the OS…. oh the list goes on but I think that sums it up. Side note: Linux runs on PC’s. The term “PC” refers to an x86 machine, not just Windows. If Mac ran on something like x86 design, it might be worth it.”
…you can’t customize the software very much, DEFINITELY not the OS as much as windows or linux, hardware has nothing to do with the argument–this is talking about the crappy OS that mac is. Oh, and mac DOES run on x86 machines, or x86_64 with dual core, ever since they started using intel chips.
“there is no sense arguing whos system is better, its like trying to argue someone into converting to your religion or switching to your political party”
lol… OS has become a sensitive subject nowadays? i’ll stay politically incorrect. macs are lame.
September 19th, 2008 at 7:57 am
But, macs ARE designed for idiots. They pretty much admit it themselves. And if you bought an iPod or an iPhone and thought it was something special…I’ve got bad news for you.
September 19th, 2008 at 8:06 am
To anyone addressing their post to Noob or dumb-mac-owner:
Did you ever stop to consider that not everyone’s hobby is the computer? I put a sticker on my mac, and that’s custom enough for me. Why? Because I use it to design and stay in touch with my family. Not to get off on. Now, I understand the need for uber-nerds who can make a computer do anything… and that’s fascinating and all. But some of us, you see, are simply using our computers as tools. And we just want them to work. We don’t need to put 50 fans in it and lights that spell our names and five operating systems because one isn’t cool enough, nope. And there are a lot more of us than you. So as far as successful products go, I think Mac’s got PC beat.
I don’t mean to insult anyone, some of the people dearest to me are very pale, I love them all dearly and I don’t think it’s bad that they use PCs.
September 19th, 2008 at 8:25 am
its great to see people try to make fun of linux in the background of windows vs mac debates and other fun stuff… because linux has always been there in the background… unix/linux has ran most of the servers, routers, TiVo (is a linux software piece), and countless other things for a long time. Heck, u can put linux on a PS3 or a cell phone if u so wished. and although linux only makes up 1% of all the desktops out there, it makes up more than 50% of servers and other “background” hardware pieces that allow us to connect our PC’s(windows) and macs together…
oh and as far as correcting someone else’s spelling and grammar on the web, only proves that u have more chromosomes than the special olympics
September 19th, 2008 at 8:49 am
While you all debate this, I will be having sex. And when I am done having sex, I will be cutting another film in Final Cut (using the right click functionality of my mighty mouse all the way). After that, more sex. Really, this is the argument? Who writes better because of their choice of typewriter? I love this. Keep it up dorks!
September 19th, 2008 at 9:00 am
It’s all down to personal preference i think.
Being in the IT industry with pc and mac user’s, 90% of support we do is with operating issues on windows the 10% is a mixture of application support and connectivity on macs.
Go Figure? I know which I prefer and I have been in the game for almost 15 years.
September 19th, 2008 at 12:52 pm
Macs suck, you can’t customize them at all. I mean you should see what i’ve done with my PC. It’s got laser cannons and rocket launchers on the side. I’ve got radars and programs that allow me to track the flight path of every bird in a 10 mile radius, my computer can dispense ice, CUBED AND CRUSHED. I don’t see any macs being able to do that. I mean all that stuff is the bare minimum to be able to check e-mails or type word documents. I can’t count the number of times i’ve been writing essays on a mac and think, “Damn, where’s that rocket launcher?” it’s just so frustrating to use.
Dear Eyeman3717,
I hate bacon. I find it a serious character flaw that you enjoy bacon. There must be something terribly wrong with your childhood. I hate bacon, and you so much i’ll fire one of my rockets at you, then cool myself down with a nice cold glass of ice and LASER BEAMS. i suggest you do the same. OH WAIT, YOU LIKE BACON, YOU ARE A FLAWED PERSON, YOU PROBABLY USE A MAC AND CAN’T ENJOY REFRESHING GLASSES OF ICE AND LASER BEAM.
PS,
If you like bacon you therefore must be a Mac user. It’s all very logical.

Computers sucks! All of them, Linux, Mac, Windows, PC’s, calculators, palmtops, mp3players, cellphones. Oh wait how am I posting this?
Yea, I have invented the new form of transforming digital information! Its called stop fighting because the world already sucks you maggots. Thank you.

Bill Gates actually isn’t the richest man in the world anymore. He’s the third richest now. Warren Buffett is the richest man in the world followed by Carlos Slim Helu.

True story: I get this gig that is part Windows, part Linux programming. I buy a new HP laptop for the job w/ Windows Vista pre-installed and resize the drive and install Linux. Install was a piece of cake. Answered a few questions, watch TV, and then it was done. Boots Windows or Linux now, no problem. I get to the job site and need to use a serial port, which isn’t on the laptop, so one of their Engineers gives me this USB serial adapter. In Windows I plug it in and it says unknown hardware. In Linux, it just works. I need to get some files off a floppy, which the laptop doesn’t have. Same engineer gives me a USB floppy drive. I Windows, I plug it in and it says unknown hardware. In Linux, I plug it in, insert the disk and a file manager window opens up with the contents of the disk displayed. Then there’s this compact flash from a DOS embedded machine. Windows says I need to format it. In Linux, it pops up a file manager window with the contents displayed. (And when I did format it in windows, he DOS machine could no longer read it, when I formatted it in Linux, the DOS machine was happy)
Oh yeah, can’t forget the boot times (boot to something that loads quick: a cmd window in Windows and a shell window in X in Linux)): 4 min 30 secs for Windows, 2 min. for Linux (and my Linux root partition is encrypted, too, which slows it down)
Now which one is the motorcycle and which is the pile of parts? I think you need to switch the labels on those. Linux just worked for everything I plugged in. Windows worked for nothing I plugged in.
I haven’t used Windows much in over a decade and this experience is not leaving a favorable impression on me.
September 19th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
mitch, dead on.
all these arguments drop dead in the face of the fact that macs can run windows
September 19th, 2008 at 4:38 pm
mmmmkay, lets start this off proper THEIR ARE NO FUCKING DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MACS AND PC’S. i have a macbook pro running windows vista and a pc running mac os/x leopard, both running them at native speeds both not crashing both with working wireless internet at that. now as per you people trying to make these ludicrous claims that windows xp is a great o/s or that vista will get better with time i call bull shit both o/s’s were stolen from open source programmers and all their proprietary software as well. safari is based off of konqueror browser for openbsd for instance. now stop this faggotry so we can get on with our day.
September 19th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
Try running dual monitors on Ubuntu without having to edit lines of code…. My definition of a usable OS excludes editing code to do something as simple as this.
Do not get me wrong, its not hard to do. But there are ten different ways and ten different programs available on Ubuntu for you to try and pick from. And this is just an example of all the simple things that are made more complicated than they should be. That is why Linux makes up only 1% of the market share. If you like doing this than great, have at it, but Linux will never be able to compete with Apple or Microsoft on a personal computer level for these reasons.
And when it comes to Macs, I do not like them and I will never use one, but who cares what anyone says. If you like them than you should use them. Just stop acting like you are better than anyone else, and stop acting like you shit gold because you operate one, because there is nothing special about doing so. Great job, you do not get viruses or have any security problems…ohh wait no one cares enough about you to give a shit. You are like Canada, you don’t matter and no one cares about what you do, so who would want to start shit with you.
As you can probably tell I run Windows. Good for me; I am no better than anyone else.
September 19th, 2008 at 4:48 pm
Do I really need to have a right button on my mouse? I just tap the trackpad with two fingers… same effect.
I have countless add-ons and modifications for my Mac.
Who needs to play games on the computer when an X box or PlayStation is infinitely better. PC=Fail.
Why would I want to update (and often pay for) Virus scan, Firewall, Windows upgrades, etc? PC=Fail.
Lack of excessive viruses, not because “no one makes them for Mac,” but because it is built on a sturdy platform. PC=Fail.
Hundreds of companies putting out similar products, at a degraded quality to make it “cheaper” rather than all “in house” and durable. PC=Fail.
PC Computers are cheap and businesses can afford them. Mac does not lower standards to make quick profits from businesses. PC=Fail.
Should I go on? I don’t have to. Most of you have never even used a mac long enough to know. I don’t mind though. It’s okay because most of you would rather have quantity (of problems) than a quality machine that costs a little more.
Computers are meant to simplify your life… PC=Fail.
September 19th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
Windows 3.0 - Vista: Done that, it was OK.
Linux 2.0.18 - current: Done that, it was a bit fun and challenging.
Mac OS X 10.2 - current: Still use it with love each day.
Let’s face it: Most people bashing on Mac users do that because they can’t afford a Mac. Just be honest. Don’t make silly lists of cool things you can or cannot do with your computer.
I’m in love with my Macs, and I’m happy I could afford them.
September 19th, 2008 at 5:14 pm
Why does anyone even care???? Just stick to the computer that you like and does the job you need done well. Learn them all
September 19th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
Dear “Someone’s Spellcheck”,
When attacking someone’s argument, don’t use MUDANE logic that implies the universal constant of an ABSOLUTE DUMBASS:
“If person X MIS-spells word Y in their argument, it means the the whole argument is somehow, without further proof required, WRONG; because now we have reason to doubt their intelligence.”
——-> YOU are JUST AS DUMB as every other UNEDUCATED TOOL on YOUTUBE!
If i misspell ONE DAMN WORD it doesn’t mean what i said is JUST SOMEHOW wrong! FURTHER PROOF/REASONING is REQUIRED to disprove what HE SAID.
That kind of arguing ain’t even worth JACK for anyone to hear. Would you KINDLY, STFU!
September 19th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
Who needs to play games on the computer when an X box or PlayStation is infinitely better.
->WRONG.
You can have a better pc, and the cost-effectiveness of this is far greater than any “deal” you’ll get for the cheap “we make it only on our platform” sellout of a market. Agea Physics can be bought for PC (what about mac? :P). And AMD is releasing 8-core and 12-core cpu’s ONLY, EXCLUSIVELY for PC’s atm. Also, why are you even trying to ARGUE this point? Didn’t you write this for Mac vs Pc? Gesus… being wrong is one thing, then bringing out your wrongness in the WRONG SPOT, that’s ANOTHER THING!
Why would I want to update (and often pay for) Virus scan, Firewall, Windows upgrades, etc? PC=Fail.
-> is WRONG.
Your conclusion states that “PC” = fail, when somehow, your premise only addressed WINDOWS. PC is a MULTI-O/S platform. I can run a gentoo linux that is compiled from source that is infinitely MORE secure than mac.
Lack of excessive viruses, not because “no one makes them for Mac,” but because it is built on a sturdy platform. PC=Fail.
-> WRONG.
Ask yourself, why does SAFARI have WAY more bugfixes every month than even Internet Explorer does? Could it be, because ALL THOSE BUGS WERE THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE?!? You know, i could see that being a problem, considering that most mac users typically use their mac with an administrative unix account AS IT IS. Overflowing a Buffer in Safari would be an end-all security problem for you because of that, but you probably don’t even know what I’m talking about, because you are under the illusion that macs don’t have security problems. When really, your COMPANY has just done such a clean job of assuring its income with BALONY statements like that, that you actually believe it.
Hundreds of companies putting out similar products, at a degraded quality to make it “cheaper” rather than all “in house” and durable. PC=Fail.
-> WRONG
The hardware in your mac is actually being sold to you at MINIMUM 30% greater cost than what you’ll find in even resellers like HP, Acer, and Toshiba. Granted, many of these companies try to sell you out. But if you didn’t RUSH-buy and actually looked under the hood for functionality, future, and REAL durability, you would realize that spending TIME to look at the market instead of being RIPPED OFF on your GAY MAC would make MORE SENSE.
PC Computers are cheap and businesses can afford them. Mac does not lower standards to make quick profits from businesses. PC=Fail.
->WRONG
As stated above, Macs have MANY TIMES more security alerts than PC’s. They also increase the cost of the hardware because A) its a mac and B) because they know that you don’t KNOW any better. C) its market lock-in.
So, moral of the story, get UN-dumb, realize where the $$ is going, don’t buy pre-manufactured content because you can get WAY farther making intelligent hardware purchases by looking at the WHOLE god damn market, NOT relying on someone else to cover YOUR FAT UN-INTELLIGENT ASS for you. Many macs can’t even put out 1080P on the market today, and are sold for OVER $1000. This is just a small example, but YOU need to get out from UNDER your APPLE-supplied-ROCK-of-DESTROYED-LOGIC, and START thinking where REAL power comes from. Oh, and one more thing. Did you ever think WHY DirectX is the predominant non-console-based graphics and gaming platform? It’s because it IS the best. It actually WHOOPS X and OPENGL’s ASS. So shove THAT up your MAC BUTT.
And one more thing? Your mac would crash if you overflow any of your extensible programs with crap. Same goes for any program. They probably just expected you to make dumb decisions about anything you need to be spoon-fed. That’s why root is locked by default, why mac users buy a screen and a desktop under the SAME lid, why YOU think that a one-button’d mouse is more powerful and faster than a FIVE button mouse (hmm… five fingers… is it TRUE?!! =D), why your mac is ALWAYS soft-power’d off and SOFT-power controlled (DUMB DUMB DUMB!.. that’s a NO-NO for ANY hardware designer!), and why you’ll ALWAYS be the mouth of a LONG LINE OF ADVERTISING from that FUCKING COMPANY CALLED APPLE.
I rest my case.
September 19th, 2008 at 6:09 pm
haha I second that
September 19th, 2008 at 6:34 pm
Linux runs on more than just x86 FYI. It runs on everything basically.

-That sounds like the same reason people buy fast cars or huge SUVs… you know what I’m talking about.
September 19th, 2008 at 6:42 pm
Oh and I almost forgot, Biscuits is a complete moron. I’ve used macs since power PC 80MHz days — they are all crap and made for retarded humans.
September 19th, 2008 at 7:17 pm
I love this article - and the comments -and yep, Macs are for people that don’t know any better. If you can’t install your own OS and have no idea what to do when your get an error - We techs would rather you have a Mac. This way you won’t be calling us for help when you can’t print as you have somehow changed your default printer and are like a deer in the headlights.
As for the comments that real gamers use consoles - um no. Kids use consoles - I’ve kinda out-grown Sonic the Hedgehog … I’d rather be playing Half Life II off of steam years before it’ll ever be released for your crappy Xbox II.
Oh I forgot the Xbox is a pc as well.
Cheers~
Rob

First off, for those people that say that Apple is stupid so on and so forth, lets look at some of the things that Apple brought to the computer world. Firewire (or IEEE 1394 interface for those of you PC users out there), Quicktime, GUI interface, the mouse (originally designed by XEROX PARC, but first used by apple), PDAs (see Apple Newton). They were the first to switch completely to USB. They made the ubiquitous iPod, which revolutionized portable music players.
September 19th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
this is why they made xbox. So you dont need to buy a pc to play games..
Who buys a pc or a mac to play games anyway?
September 19th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
“Wait, how many professional movies are cut/edited on macs? Yeah, that’s right, all of them, in Final cut. And BTW it’s not just movies. Professional music recording, photo editing, designing and all sorts of professional stuff are made on macs not on PC’s.”
False.
“And real gamers doesn’t play on a PC, nor on a mac. Real gamers play on consoles and pay for the games worth playing!”
What the fuck?? Computers CREATED modern gaming. How many game tournaments do you hear about on consoles as compared to PC? Virtually ZERO. The only competitive game that consoles have is Halo, and Halo is the most over rated game in existence.
“PC’s are made for poor people who can’t afford to buy games or a real computer.”
Wow. That’s so completely ass backwards it’s ridiculous. The major DISADVANTAGE of PCs is that they are expensive. PCs are a real computer. Macs are for trendy douchebags or pretenders who think they are “artists.”

September 19th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
“Do I really need to have a right button on my mouse? I just tap the trackpad with two fingers… same effect.”
Except you have to use two fingers when I can use one retard.
“I have countless add-ons and modifications for my Mac.
Who needs to play games on the computer when an X box or PlayStation is infinitely better. PC=Fail.”
Xbox and Playstation are not even CLOSE to better. Look at TF2 for a perfect example. Xbox users STILL don’t have the frequently released content by valve.
“Why would I want to update (and often pay for) Virus scan, Firewall, Windows upgrades, etc? PC=Fail.”
I haven’t paid for a single one of those, and since I’m not a technologically crippled manatee like most mac users I can easily manage my updates and protection to be unobtrusive.
“Lack of excessive viruses, not because “no one makes them for Mac,” but because it is built on a sturdy platform. PC=Fail.”
I have never gotten a virus. I have gotten a few cases of spy ware, but all were removed almost immediately and with no trouble. Macs ARE more stable that PCs, but they are FAR FAR FAR from invincible. Viruses can be made for macs easily, but no one gives enough of a shit to do so.
“Hundreds of companies putting out similar products, at a degraded quality to make it “cheaper” rather than all “in house” and durable. PC=Fail.”
COMPLETE AND UTTER FAILURE.
Competition is GOOD FOR THE CONSUMER you driveling piece of crotch.
“PC Computers are cheap and businesses can afford them. Mac does not lower standards to make quick profits from businesses. PC=Fail.”
No, Macs are more expensive because they realize tools like you will buy them to seem cool and trendy.
“Should I go on? I don’t have to. Most of you have never even used a mac long enough to know. I don’t mind though. It’s okay because most of you would rather have quantity (of problems) than a quality machine that costs a little more.
Computers are meant to simplify your life… PC=Fail.”
Hey, I’m selling this rock for for a couple grand. It has ZERO problems! It’s IMPOSSIBLE TO HACK. It’s EASY TO USE!!!!! Sure it costs a little more than a PC, but just think about how COOL you’ll be once you have one!

I have owned an iBook G4 for 3 1/2 years now, and it has never, not even once crashed on me. My brand new Dell XPS is driving me insane. My mother decided to surprise me with it since she broke the keyboard on my Mac. ;(Worst mistake she ever made. I can’t stand Windows. Worst OS ever created. And sure, there’s Linux, but what college student has time to customize their PC? (What ‘normal’ college student.) When the new Apple comes out, I am switching, no questions asked. And in the mean time, I am getting my iBook fixed.
THE SIMPLICITY OF MAC WILL NEVER BE SURPASSED BY A MERE PC.

its fun to see long lines for a new apple product. then we can weed out all the tools in our world. even justin long [the "im a mac" guy] uses pcs. cuz macs cant take the gaming. and some games are better with a mouse WITH MORE THAN ONE BUTTON AND A NIPPLE or a consol controller. id rather play my fps’ with my deathadder, than a wii mote [no hate on wiis, brawl ftw] and most college students get macs because all they need is that garbage. they probably wont stay in college for long[drop out]. i need pc, because all the programs for an engineering student [with an actual future] are only for pc.
September 20th, 2008 at 3:34 am
Ok… this is very funny. I don’t really care what OS you use (I have used Windows most of my life, but have tried Linux and Mac OSX as well), but the people that honestly believe Windows is superior/faster/less buggy than either Mac or Linux have *never* seriously tried Mac or Linux. Or they drew their conclusion before even trying. I actually laughed out loud at the picture with the bikes…
September 20th, 2008 at 3:41 am
Hey Lexy, you should give Ubuntu a try. Linux has come a long way from being a glorified hacker tool to actually being user friendly. Here is the extent of customization in Ubuntu:
1) Download it (free) and burn onto a CD
2) Put the CD in the computer and restart
3) A menu should come up and you can select to install it, or even boot into Ubuntu directly from disc just to try it out if you don’t want to install it yet.
You don’t have to touch command line if you don’t want to(although the option is available–it is a very powerful tool)
September 20th, 2008 at 4:02 am
Grim, darling engineer-wanna-be you should spend a little more time on your grammar, and a little less time playing games. (And uh, Halo for XBOX 360 is superior to any FPS that you may find for the PC.) FYI, I’m a senior Biomedical Engineering major at UCI, sure you want to play the drop-out game with me?
September 20th, 2008 at 5:10 am
Ahahah, macs fucking suck.
I’ll take a powerful PC over a trendy fashionable piece of garbage any day.
September 20th, 2008 at 5:54 am
I have been using PC all my life and it works perfectly fine for me. My computer only crashed once and it was because I didn’t update and I was running too many programs at the same time. I am now smarter and I do what I’m supposed too. I would never buy a mac and I hate using them. The only thing I would buy is a PC.
September 20th, 2008 at 6:00 am
THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A MAC AND PC is that Macs are for people who *don’t* need the advanced and configurable features - they just don’t want to be bothered by it. Aside from the stability of the OS, Mac users seldom have to worry about having this advanced control over their system. They just *use* it since it was meant for usage anyways. PC users are NOT LIMITED to any “dictatorship” rules that inhibit your freedom of choice towards what you can do with your PC hardware, software and whatnot. For developers Macs aren’t of much use.
I like my freedom, I like to make my own choices. I use a PC.
September 20th, 2008 at 7:51 am
touting the merits of an inferior product is the saddest thing I have ever seen - clearly whoever posted this have no clue what they are talking about.
All the way up, from the Intel CPU, to the Windows operating system, you are buying into unnecessarily clumsy and complicated solution.
I do not own a Mac, but consider this - how would the hardware/software market look today if Microsoft had not cornered the market…if every product was not a Word-clone.
It only took me 3 hours to determine that Vista is crap - you’re being sold a Windows 3.1 with new colors every time.

You’re right, bacon IS delicious. Have you tried a bacon deluxe? It’s when you fry up a pound of bacon, then FUCKING EAT IT. It’s out of this world. Also, deep fry french toast in bacon grease, it’s so very worth it.
September 20th, 2008 at 2:04 pm
I have both a pc and a mac.
I have been a windows user all my life, but had my first taste of mac life when i had to use it for video editing and photoshop work at college. It was irritating at first but that was due to the fact i was so accustomed to windows it had become second nature. A week later tho, and i preferred it. Didn’t bother buying into a mac tho until quite a few years later. Mainly due to the fact that windows is pretty much the standard and dominant os in the market.
Once microsoft word etc was made available on a mac, a right click lol, and the ability to install xp on a mac came about it made it impossible for me to resist. Plus Vista was..is..crap! So that was the final nail in the coffin. For me personally macs just look great and so does leopard. Initially i planned to install xp as a dual boot, but a year on and i still haven’t bothered.
My mac has never crashed and iv had it for a year now…the only thing that has crashed a few times however is, microsoft word and excel!
Itunes on a p.c i hated (winamp :)). Itunes on a mac, has become a godsend. I don’t use itunes store so drm has no effect on me.
Im not a pc gamer, i own a ps3 and a wii for that purpose.
I would not say os x isn’t customizable or is defunct in advanced features. Apple scripts etc allow you to do a hell of a lot to functionality and what not.
These days, most of my computer programmer etc friends use windows at work, and macs at home. Most of my advertising/design friends use macs at work and macs at home!
If you are a pc gamer, you are pretty much never going to like macs probably, the fact of the matter is mac hardware is never going to be as customisable as a PC, because macs are sold to be a complete integrated system. A pc game 6 months down probably is going to need better system requirements and thats where avid PC gamers like to spend their money to push their systems to get their gaming joy.
I prefer xp way above vista, but obviously compared to leopard it feels outdated.
Anyway thats just my opinion and i accept others may have different experience or feel differently. mac or pc, its all down to what you use it for. Everyone is their own niche, people need to accept some people prefer one thing to the other without getting into an uproar. Don’t try to sell the desert to an eskimo!

I might have been able to buy a laptop thats on par with my macbook for cheaper, but personally im happy to pay for the aesthetics and design. I’d happily pay a bit extra to have something that looks nice both on and off, then to have to look at something ugly. Although i understand if performance heavily outweighs aesthetics for some people.
Anyway thats just my opinion and i accept others may have different experience or feel differently. mac or pc, its all down to what you use it for. Guys! Guys! Let me let you in on a secret. I’ve worked in the programming department for both Apple Mac and Microsoft Windows, And the truth is, We used the Windows operating system for most of our key functions in both of these corporations.. I suppose that should say something?
- Not really arguing, Just pointing out the practicality.
I use them both at home depending on what I want to do.
For many reasons, I won’t say which I enjoy the most ^^

One of the problems I always had with trying out Linux, was not knowing what the hell flavor to pick. I would say I’d try out this Ubuntu, but then there are the other problems:
Mainly, I refuse to duel boot. I refuse to have to log in and out of separate systems just so I can not use Windows 100% of the time. Why would I want to cause myself such a hassle?
Some sense of superiority and pride; as if I’d somehow defeated Microsoft by only using Windows for all those programs that require it, and using some crappy wan’ ‘o be garbage that screws up document formatting when I try to import/export to .doc, which I have to do because everyone uses .doc; not some Linux clone of it?
Sounds like a lot of aggravation just to give ol’ Bill the finger some 10-20% of the time.
Hell, at least with Macs you get to use the actual Office suite so you don’t have to worry about bad conversions…
To me, and many people, the OS is just an OS. It is only the platform on which the “game” is played. It’s more a part of the machine than the software… in fact, it literally defines the machine, as it offers the software a means to communicate with it. Point in case, the jokes above do not specify OS-X vs. Windows, but rather Mac vs. PC… so why the hell are we talking about Windows?..
If I were a graphic artist I would get a Mac, because a good graphic artist needs the latest version of Photoshop and other art programs that generally come out for Mac first. Other than that I’d rather not wait 1-2 years, for programs that have been released on PC, for them to translate them for Macs, if they translate them over at all…
Let’s put it this way: If computers were houses, Linux would be a nearly empty house, but with limitless potential; Macs would be neat and clean, you would only be allowed to put thoroughly tested appliances in it, and “nothing would fail” because it had to be “perfect” to get in there in the first place. PC’s, on the other hand, are a little scary… there are wires sticking out of the walls all over the place, and gadgets hanging about everywhere; seems to be no building code… you can plug in anything you want, but we can’t guarantee it’ll work, etc…
You pick whatever house you desire. I’ve got no problem with people who simply like what they like because they like it. It’s those smarmy bastards that criticize what other people like, then get mad when there’s retaliation…
P.S. The motorcycle gag, doesn’t look like a crack on Linux to me at all. It simply symbolizes it as the “build your own OS” of OS’. If you don’t get that, maybe you don’t get the purpose of Linux…
September 21st, 2008 at 3:10 pm
It would be a nightmare of incompatibility. We needed a stabilizing factor. We needed a dominant force.
Just like I’m thankful to compuserve for coming up with gifs, even though they were replaced, and of course, whoever came up with jpgs.
What a nightmare if people were still using all of the other 9000 image and document formats…
September 21st, 2008 at 3:56 pm
Mac vs PC is a dumb debate: its the same crappy made-in-taiwan hardware in solely different casings.
All the discussions should instead be about Apple vs Windows vs Linux:Hardware and software lockdown, software lockdown or freedom.

@guybrush
“And real gamers doesn’t play on a PC, nor on a mac. Real gamers play on consoles and pay for the games worth playing!
PC’s are made for poor people who can’t afford to buy games or a real computer.”
that is the dumbest thing that I have ever read. Every real gamer knows that pc games are better, the best of practically every genre have been on PC, and games that are on both consoles and pcs are always better on the pc. since mouse/keyboard is better than a controller, there are mods, better internet play, free update, the list just goes on. Have you ever played a good rts or tbs on a console, didn’t think so. FPS? Half-life 1/2 CS? DoD? Quak, Unreal. RPGs the entire list of mmo’s and single player rpgs pretty much from Diablo 2, to the Elder scrolls, to everquest. Even the ports to consoles suck. Consoles games are so bad on average compared to pc that it makes people think that Halo was a ground breaking fps.
then for the second part…. poor people? I know people who have dropped $10k on a pc for gaming, that is in no way poor.
you my friend are an idiot.

“And real gamers doesn’t play on a PC, nor on a mac. Real gamers play on consoles and pay for the games worth playing!

Hahaha so lame
Everyone knows that before the Ps3 and 360, a good performance PC could blow Ps2, Gamecube and Xbox combined. Its a better gaming console, because of the upgradable feature, and anyone who plays games know that if you play games on a PC, you pay more money than on a console. Every 6 months you have to get a new Graphics Card, Sound Card, and what have you. Every 6 months you can upgrade your Rams and Cpu speed, you get new monitors.
Yes, to get a ps3, u have to pay 500$, but u only pay it once. I paid on my PC more than 3000$ in four years, and I still don’t have the best one out there.
September 28th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
Blah blah blah PC rules and so on… like you’ve got nothing better to do, oh wait, shit.
September 28th, 2008 at 8:56 pm
Linux kicks windows and macs butts. It is way more customizable than either of them, and has good easy to use interfaces for doing it. The only downside to linux is that it does not play games. For now windows controls that.
I would say that macs are better than linux except that most linux distributions have package management systems. This is by far the best thing about linux. The ability to use a categorized add/remove software utility makes finding and installing software a breeze.
Windows is far far behind in terms of innovation as well as performance. My computer running Ubuntu 8.04 boots up in about 45 seconds (it is useable in this time). It takes windows on the same machine about 1.5 minutes to login and another 1.5 minutes to load up settings and stuff. This is after I have gone through all of the windows services disabling the ones I dont need and disabling many of the startup programs except the most vital ones. I dont even start my wireless in windows. The task manager says I am running 29 processes. On a core 2 system with xp and 2 gb of 800mhz ram windows should be able to do much better. It does not and it fails. Another annoying thing about xp is that it uses virtual 300 mb of virtual memory when I still have over a gigabyte of free ram. Windows xp sucks.
September 28th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
Wait a minute… Mac has Minesweeper? No, that’s one of the bundled games on Windows. In fact, though Mac often either doesn’t get ports of games, or gets them late, it by no means has a horrible selection of games.
Quite frankly, this post is crap. I can think of tons of REASONABLE arguments for OR against any major OS, and I see no need to resort to this nonsense.
Don’t get me wrong, I do prefer PC to Mac, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to blindly agree with or back up any random BS that people say.
September 29th, 2008 at 1:34 am
Macs aren’t sold by virtue of their supposed technological merits. They’re sold because Apple has created a lifestyle brand out of a computer. And its true, people buy Mac to be “cool” and trendy and so they can have have liscence for acting like pretentious, elitist, bourgeois a-holes when it comes to interacting with the unwashed PC masses.
Besides, everybody knows Linux is for power users, Apple is for feeble hipsters, and Windows is for n00bs.
September 29th, 2008 at 2:50 am
HAHAHA, this is soo true . my 87 year old grandfather could operate a mac. as can any person who has no technical knowlege of anything. thus macs are for pussies! period!

@Bull: “If this offends any Mac users please right click somthing.”
Done.. So… I got a rightclick menu up in fx3… Anything else?
See this movie by a “multuple-OS-user”.
Yeah, Mac are easy to use “out of the box” but that doesn’t mean that it’s not powerfull…
I’ve been operating WinVista since it came out, and it haven’t crashed. The same with my XP. (Haven’t crashed since SP2)
Windows isn’t that bad and Mac isn’t that “boring” as people say.
I chose my OS, and you chose yours. Period.

PS:
I’ve seen way better “ads” than those…
October 16th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
They are great pictures and really reminded me of why I don’t have a mac right now.. I guess i must be an odd case because I am not jealous, I bought a new $1499 mac and tried to use it for a year (I had over 20 years experience on PC and various OS before that.) However I got so fed up because doing practically anything on it felt like having hands tied. I always longed for features that weren’t in any apps, features which I had taken for granted on Linux or Windows programs for example. The OS X and hardware itself didn’t really proof itself for me because it crashed pretty often, like many times a day. An OS and computer should never crash - only programs may crash - that’s my ideal philosophy. I find XP and Linux on quality hardware being much more closer to that ideal. Apple is just as bad company as any company, their ads are full of lies and empty phrases, not to mention that Apple is one of the only companies that has to constantly mock their competitors to get attention.. what a negative way to make yourself known.
I still think of getting my old mac back sometimes, because it was good for some stuff.. well, when I think of it, mostly for looking pretty and for playing mp3’s.

I use Vista/Ubuntu,
Most of the time i boot in windows but i think Linux will be the smartest choice for me in the future. For your basic needs Linux is the best OS arround. By the way its completely free and open source. The problem is however, not enough people recognise it as a functional OS yet. It could use a few more programs.
I see no reason for me to use a mac. On te other hand if i was to study design, or what not, then i would use a Mac. I dont feel a Mac to be supplied with an appropriate OS for me. By the way it is expensive and this has nothing to do with the OS, but with the time apple takes on the looks of her appliances. (The only apple product suitable for me is an iPod, perhaps iPhone since i wouldn’t need
phone/mp3/gameboy/agenda/portableDVD/portableInternet
still looking in to that, the only problem for me with the iPhone is the price btw)
For the moment however i feel at home with Vista. It does NOT suck if you ask me, i have had no problems i didn’t encounter on XP in its first stages. I also like games, these i play on my brothers XP powered PC.
About consoles, they do not match up on pc’s (yet). They do however trump them on a graphics level. So when it comes to games playable on a controler, like racing games, i would prefer a console. Wii is a new type of console and adds a new dimension to gaming, i am not a fan of this dimension however so i only recommend it to kids.
And btw its silly to comment you dont care about other peoples thoughts, because fact that you commented signifies you care.
Conclusion depending on your needs YOU choose the suitable OS for YOU, not some chump on the internet.
Grtz

Well I was playing World of Warcraft on my playstation. No, no I was not.
Real gamers on use consoles, right.
November 6th, 2008 at 2:46 am
Nobody cared to ask, but last I heard, Linux was more popular than MacOS. Over here, we do not miss Viruses, Trojans, etc. In fact, we helped you folks uncover the Sony audio CD rootkit problem a few years ago (you are welcome), because our OS won’t let ‘tramp’ software start executing (unlike the Microsoft ‘feed pipe’ method). Do you enjoy your symbiotic relationship with Microsoft telling you you will spend $1200+ every time they tell you to spend it (oops, I meant to say every time they release a new version of Windows)? I never liked having Microsoft dragging me to the PC store, just because they obsoleted my hardware…. Oh wait…. I can still use older hardware with Linux!
November 6th, 2008 at 7:06 am
Hey Spuffler,
You may not get many viruses on Linux, but unless you are an expert and know exactly how to secure your system, there are holes big enough to drive a truck through. At least the poor users get some help with Windows (and Mac for that matter). Oh and before you start about the open source help documentation - you really expect the average user to be able to make sense of it? Get real! That’s why Linux isn’t as big as Windows!
November 6th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
Hi.ha ha these made me laugh which i think at the bottom end is what they were ment to do. I am a graphic designer and generally, but not all use mac for this purpose.Macs are simple to use and are that way because i dont want to fuck about with it, its there to do certain operations and thats it, no complications, no famous blue screen or bouncing ball. If macs and there os is bad then why on earth did windows try and copy it to an extent with Pissta ooh sory vista. Misanthropy who commented earlier, try some constructive criticism monkey instead of shit one liners. Im a mac fan and will always be just because there better looking, working and dont fook up

The ONLY problem I have had on Vista is installing iTunes. Honestly. I swear to God. It’s been crashing my computer, but I can run any other combination of programs as long as I don’t try to re-install iTunes.
November 7th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
I’m a little unsure what this is all about. PCs are obviously the best choice for games and allow more flexibility. However, for work, stability and reliability are the key issues. Windows XP took a long time and many updates before becomming a stable OS - and so will Vista.
I suggest a PC for games and those who NEED to be able to choose between toolbar themes. For those who do a lot of high-end computer-based work (especially those in the design industry like me), I’d suggest a Mac.
Comparing a Mac to a PC on the points made with these images is a bit like comparing the Xbox 360 to Nintendo’s Wii.
November 8th, 2008 at 12:11 am
I agree apple sucks but so does windows basically you can’t customize a mac but you can windows you get viruses on windows and macs NOW but you cant really game on a mac but can on a windows machine. well Linux lets you be a gamer and not get virus’s and I can customize Linux to my needs. Well I must say I’m kinda jealous because I can’t get virus’s on my Linux machine and I’ve tried using Wine to get virus’s in Linux and that didn’t even work. even though windows sucks I miss getting virus’s. think about this the only reason macs work right out of the box is because they only use their hardware booo where as with windows you have more hardware options but just not as much as Linux. Linux has the most Hardware support than any other OS combined.
November 8th, 2008 at 12:57 am
I work at a company that writes software for IT event management. It is obvious to me that Macs have their own advantages, and Windows has theirs as well. Although I must say… that there isn’t much Windows can do that Mac can’t at this point. All the programmers at our company use Macs.
November 8th, 2008 at 9:37 am
If I want to play games I’ll get a playstation. If I want a computer, the OS is going to be Mac or Linux. You basically sumed it up, Windows is for gaming only. Oh and viruses/spyware.
November 8th, 2008 at 4:31 pm
I love my pc. There is so much software available and so many features. Sometimes it will even run for a whole half hour before it hangs. I HAVE to remember not to install any software in my pc because that’s not good for it.
November 8th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
Hmmm,
The picture of the bikes is pretty misleading. Linux has not required you to “put the pieces together” for a very long time.
Ubuntu is better out of the box than any other OS with much better driver support.
November 11th, 2008 at 3:23 am
Lol, Mac vs. Windows conversations are hilarious to read, but painful to get into.
“Consoles are just pc’s with more than half the functionality taken out.”
Actually, the Wii, the PS3, and the Xbox360, the three most popular consoles today, all use PowerPC processors. That’s the same processor architecture that was in the iBook, iMac, and PowerBook line of Macs. So if you limit your definition of “PC” to an x86 processor, consoles are not PCs in any way.
And just for the record, my PowerBook G4 running Mac OS 10.4 has never crashed or locked up on me. My PC, however, locks up every couple hours. And to the guy who said that no one makes good video drivers: try Ubuntu.
There are a lot of things I wish I could do with my PowerBook that I can do with my Windows machine. Well, actually, there’s only two: Games, and Anim8or. Other than that, Mac OS X has me set.
November 12th, 2008 at 3:42 am
i have both mac and pc. both have something to boast, and both gave me CTS. so…what is there to argue about? they are just “toys” that after some years you would dispose just to buy something new. sheeesh
November 12th, 2008 at 5:57 am
Didn’t read all the posts…so excuse any duplication.
but I think the next advert for a PC, should be a take on a “Monk” and a “Party Guy”, see there is so much protection for viruses out there, for PC’s but not too many effective ones for Mac’s. So “Monk” stays at home, worried about parting cause he might catch something…and “Party Guy” goes rocking around with solid protection.
November 12th, 2008 at 6:51 am
yes yes, its doing do well.
the interesting thing is that all you can do on your pc is surf the ‘net and spank to pr0n, while we mac’s get all the fun of recording the pr0n, editing the pr0n, posting the pr0n, and you pc’s get the lo res beat off clipz

My laptop (these statistics are off the top of my head, so I don’t know processor FSB or RAM clock speed):
Gateway M-6848 FX
15.4″ screen
Intel T5750 Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz per core
4GB DDR3 RAM (guessing, just guessing, 667MHz)
200GB 7200RPM hard drive
Radeon HD Mobility 2600 with 512mb of GDDR3 VRAM
Vista x64 SP1 (not as bad as Mac-lovers would like to think. Runs as fast as XP and hasn’t crashed once)
Cost: $750 from BestBuy in August
Runs Fallout 3 at nearly max settings (everything maxed but AA (none), AF (4x), grass at 0 (ugly and just hurts performance), Shadows on Low quality, and water at Medium. I get an average of 30 FPS.
The Cheapest MacBook:
13.3″ screen
2.1GHz Core 2 Duo
1GB DDR2 RAM @ 667MHz
120GB 5400RPM hard drive
Integrated Intel GMA X3100
Whatever Apple decides to release next
Cost: $999
Can’t even run Fallout 3 (or any modern game for that matter), regardless of settings, Boot Camp, whatever.
If you know anything about computers, I think you’ll realize what the better deal was.
November 12th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Sorry, my Laptop RAM is DDR2, not DDR3, and resolution is 1280×800.
November 12th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
Anyone who thinks Macs are “better” than PC’s are as dumb as a bag of hammers.
Macs may be better at Graphic Design, but PC’s are better at…everything else.
November 13th, 2008 at 4:55 pm
Personally, I own a PC. It runs Windows XP SP2 and the processor is a Pentium 4 with one gig of ram. I am a college student and this computer suits my needs (EE Major). My computer DIED once because I was doing stupid shit like dowloading. I have had this computer since I was in Middle school, I was dumb back then… Now that I have gotten it back up it has not even slowed for the past 2-3 years it’s been running again. In the few months it was dead I was using a dell laptop running the same OS. That ran perfectly fine for the year I used it heavily, not to say that it has gotten worse, I just don’t use it as much.
I also did a lot of editing in High School on PCs, not Macs. Adobe Premier Pro is much more superior to Final Cut, especially when run on a Dell dual core PC. I also can’t stand the apple mouse, especially when trying to get drop down menus in FCP… (yes, right click…) I tend to prefer trackballs myself (and really any *actual* mouse).
As for the OS, Mac is terrible, it is extremely convoluted. I do give them credit, they do have fast processors, yet they spend more time processing all the damn graphics of the GUI to do anything worthwhile. The system isn’t worth beans tho when you want to install something like.. say… anything other than more ram…(which is still a pain in the a**)
As for the post, This was hilarious! It’s just a joke guys! If you don’t like it, grip your iPod and bear it…
November 14th, 2008 at 2:18 am
I love this topic, and I love these replies, and even more so I love all the mac users that try and defend themselves. I had a Mac for a long time and thought it was okay, only crashed once every, say, 2 months while running normal programs, I couldn’t get any games other than some crappy ripoff of Mario made for 6 year olds, when it did crash I’d control+alt+delete but nothing would happen, because it crashed(which defeats the entire purpose of having ctrl+alt+delete, but anyways) I was sort of okay. One day, I came to the realization that macs really are that bad (mostly in terms of lack of certain software), and got a pc. I now have tons of games (got the Orange box and loads of mods) not to mention programs like gamemaker, some emulators, etc. I have complete freedom. Unfortunately though, I was not entirely educated when I got it, because by video card isn’t the best, but the best part is I can go get one, install it, and use it instantly without having to get a whole new system. Getting a pc is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Period.
P.S. Bacon is life
November 14th, 2008 at 3:12 am
i dont hate macs or love windows. however, i do think that windows serves my purposes better. i love PC gaming. idc wut u think about that, like it, hate it, dont care. id much rather play on my pc than a mac (and yes i have tried mac, so dnt give me that argument) simply because the performance is better. If i wanted a computer just for working that i didnt need any extra customizable features on, i’d go for mac. they suit different people’s purposes. PC suits mine.

cool down guys. It is just a write up for the sake of fun.
By the way apple realy sucks:)
November 18th, 2008 at 3:32 am
Haha, I really liked the bike picture. PCs are just far more practical and if you know what you’re doing with them, you’ll be just fine. I used to have them crash on me, but I got some computer savvy to secure my investment and nothing has crashed on me ever since. It’s just a matter of being lazy or not, to be honest.
If you take hard earned money out of your pocket for a computer, take the time to learn how to use/protect it properly and realize its potential. Otherwise
a) Shut the hell up
b) Go be a pussy and buy a Mac
c) Forget the whole computer thing all together
Just my two cents on the whole bit.
November 20th, 2008 at 2:57 am
I disagree with almost all of this.
Both the Windows and the mac are equally great computers, just in different ways.
As a lifelong user of the Mac, but also as a half-life time user of the PC, i have unbiased opinions upon both.
It is true that the PC crashes. A LOT. But it also has a wide variety of programs and appliances that make it worth the hours of crap you have to put up with.
And the Mac. I seriously have not ever had my OSX crash on me, and the graphics are insanely awesome. it runs better and has better programs for actual JOBS, but i do agree that it has little else, and almost no games at all. And the viruses: it’s not because people don’t make them, it’s because it has better protection.
Even though the above evidence really leans more toward the Mac, both are equally usable, for different tasks.
November 20th, 2008 at 2:59 am
I forgot to add that the mac is in no way harder to use than the PC. just substitute all the shortcuts with the command button instead of Ctrl.
November 22nd, 2008 at 1:23 am
To those Apple fanatics who took this way to seriously, a simple analogy. Arguing online is like competing in the special olympics. Even if you win, you’re still retarded.

The only problem I have with microsoft is that they don’t try to work out all the bugs before their first release but they felt threatened enough by linux and mac that they felt they needed an immediate release for vista the reason you’ll see them try to talk crap about linux is because they feel threatened by the open source OS granted if you’re not trying to do anything incredibly complex then you really don’t need linux but as for programming, which I’m trying to teach myself it’s a dream because it allows you to dive right in. as for macs they do good as a family machine, where you can do music, crop photos, and study. The reason that more viruses are written for Windows platforms is because they’re more likely to be a business machine and the malicious code might damage or obtain some of the business info.

Wow guys calm the fuck down hahaha.. I’m 15 and if you know just a bit about computers u wont have problems.. I’ve been using my computer that I built 2 and a half years ago (upgraded RAM and harddrive this year) and it had a virus problem TWICE and both times were my fault.. other than that its been flawless and I dont even have antivirus!!! Just educate urself, dont download suspicious files, and dont do anything stupid… I use mac’s at school and they are great for editing and anything artistic basically.. Each are good in their respective fields so Just stick to your needs…. although I must say Mac’s do cost a lot more.. but better looking prostitutes cost more right as well so I guess ur paying for the looks? anyways they’re both respectible machines

I just got really angry for some reason. Oh well, Forbes and the Economist predict in 5-7 years, Microsoft will not exist, or it will be a software company for Apple and Linux.
November 27th, 2008 at 4:17 pm
haha stupid idiots. Who gives a flying fuck what system you use? Continue your pissing contest.
November 28th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
Here’s something ironic…
PC users say they are better because they can find out which cables go where because there are so many.
Mac + Boot Camp + XP + Burning All Copies of Vista = =D
And now I’m going to switch to my XP and play Call of Duty 4.

many of the images shown are just plain wrong.
1- macs DO get viruses- they just don’t lock down the O/S the same way it does with Windows.
The biggest fear a Mac user gets with viruses, is that they may pass on an infected file from one Windows user to another.
2- minesweeper has always been a Windows basic installation….though there are many shareware ports of that once popular game (which is a valuable tool for teaching logic to 8th graders)
3- in comparison chart of “full/partial support”, everything there is “n/a” for Mac O/S due to the way the O/S works. (i.e. .EXE just does NOT EXIST)
4- i have had many macs, and while my current machine is a WinXP, I would go back.
5- Macs ARE customizeable- always has been! People have been making interesting cases AND changing their desktops for some time- and in the days of data/resource forks, some users even opened up the system core to alter or edit the resources, thus changing everything about their o/s appearance, using tools like ResEdit.
6- steve Jobs has always been up against the BlueSuits form the day he tried to sell his brain-child to IBM. They (at the time) thought there was “no money” in the PC market, and turned him down.
Ever since the ‘1984′ commercials, Steve was reminding Big Blue of their mistake. Hence the suit commercials today.
The difference between mac and p/c is like a Porsche against a Honda Civic.
there are more parts for the civic, cheaper to buy, and more people owning civics than porshe’s…but no one disputes that a porsche is simply elegant.

Priceless

Not mentioned very often is how today’s Macs are TOTALLY incompatible with older software. None of your old programs will run, except through emulation. And not very many of them. So Jobs gets a double bonus when you have to go and buy all new programs for your new Mac. Freeware? LOL, for the Mac? At least M$ has always considered backwards-compatibility to be important. Oh, wait. They took 16-bit support out of Vista, didn’t they?

not a great argument. yes, at a glance there is a lot less you can customize on a mac, but that is simply because most of the advanced options are hidden away so that the know-nothing user cant eff it up. yes: you have a point: mac doesn’t have many games. yes, games are fun. one thing tho: GROW UP. find something worthwhile to do and stop sitting on your ass playing video games. yes, macs can get viruses and do crash, but they usually do it less frequently, and, you have to admit: macs do have very good built in security, making it harder to make viruses for it in the first place. what ticks me off the most is the “Either show off or get a better thing” pic. as a designer, i have always thought most PC’s looked quite ugly, except perhaps computers made by companies like voodoo- http://www.voodoopc.com and then you look at the mac and the pc in the picture, it is likely they are equally as powerful, but all the wires and shit hanging out the back is not attractive.

All the major computer companies suck for the same reason: they are greedy corporations. I began to hate Apple in the 1970’s when a customer’s Apple II died and I noticed that all the IC numbers had been carefully sanded off to prevent service. It all went downhill after that. The best machines are now made by twelve-year-olds in their parents’ basements. What is there to love about stinking Dell? HP/Compaq? Nauseating eMachines? They are all selling scams in the form of non-standard computers. If you can’t think for yourself a computer won’t help you. This is the awful truth most computer users deny. If you hate your local economy and environment, go ahead, buy a pre-made, non-standard machine. If you care, visit a good vendor (like Newegg, but there are many) and roll your own. It will be made with standard parts and be upgradable much, much longer, and much cheaper overall. Oh, and by the way, all software costs the same: NOTHING. Pirate the lot and screw all the corporations. I have NEVER purchased copy protected software. Not one byte (starting with a lovely hacked copy of Lotus 1-2-3). Neither should anyone with more than two functioning synapses. One of my favorite programs (DVDFab Platinum 5) is both pirated and illegal to possess. The day you can no longer pirate is the day I throw my computer in the garbage. But then, I have found my best hardware there, including discarded hard drives full of REALLY juicy shit. God, how stupid the rich talking monkeys are. No wonder America has turned to corporate fascist crap. If computers help us at all, it will be the work of hackers and pirates, not simians in suits.

I have a PC laptop and i have a mac. the pc is for internet, space for music, and….WARCRAFT!!! AS LONG AS I CAN PLAY WARCRAFT IM HAPPY! AND VISTA HAS NOT GIVEN ME ANY PROBLEMS SO FAR!! the mac is for my husband who creates music…and it keeps him away from the PC…so I CAN PLAY WARCRAFT! cough ahem. and if you don’t download porn and buy Norton, you don’t get viruses. easy. But yes mac is great for creation. PC is great for uh internet and games. so depending on your preference it balances out.

I was playing on a PC and it just crashed and it just said “this program has stopped working” Me and my friends then wondered if it could think up any better excuses.
February 27th, 2009 at 5:17 pm
I run a PC because I like installing Antivirus XP/2008/2009/360. It are my faverit.
Oh, actually I primarily use a Mac. It has a Core II Duo, 4 gigs of RAM and cost less than a similarly configured Dell. It has a usable terminal (bash) built in and can write PDFs out of the box. If I desired to run Vista (don’t), it would run Vista better than nearly 100% of all PCs that already run it. I do, however, run a Linux installation in a VM for a couple of Linux only programs that I need. I suppose I do miss having to look for hours for drivers…

Burn, Mac fags. BURN!
March 5th, 2009 at 6:25 pm
I like Ipod mp3, but no way to Apple MAC! Geez, owning apple mac once is enough for me and I will never go back. Why Mac can do some software like remote desktop? I love to run my PC at home then I can connect to it whenever I have itnernet? If Mac can do more than just mostly editing, then Im sure world will start using them. Im sorry but the fact is, 90% worldwide still using windows. In asia, most schools used windows, offices and residential.
If Mac can do something more, then it might worth it, but maybe not now. IM A PC!
March 17th, 2009 at 5:42 pm
Wow, people still think Macs are so amazing? First, Macs can’t right click, and they’ve continued to ignore please for a Mac mouse with 2 buttons. I would go insane on my PC if I had to control click everything. Second, Macs cost ton more money to be put in a fancy box and to look sleek. Apple charges over 700% on RAM when you buy directly from Apple. Buy 3rd party RAM and it’s a ton less. PC manufacturers only charge around 150-200% for RAM pre-installed. And the only reason Macs don’t crash as often? You have almost no choice in hardware. Why? Because Apple figures if they can have official, certified drivers for all the hardware, the system will run better. MS can’t certify all the hardware drivers, which can result in crashes.
Now let’s look at software. Wow, I would switch to a PC in an instant if I tried to use all the software I do on my PC. AutoCAD, Visual Studio, Office 2007 (which performs horribly on Macs), MBAM, NIS 2009, mIRC, Acrnois Disk Director 10…I would be so frustrated if I couldn’t use these utilities. Macs, well, can’t use a lot of them. I see close to no freeware for the Mac either. So what are all the fanboy’s solutions? “We can just use VMWare to run Vista!”. Wow, really? undermining your whole argument right there, saying “Anything I can’t do on my Mac, a PC can do.”You’re telling me the only good thing about a Mac is the hardware in that case. You’re all probably so proud of your nice silvery design and streamlined look. My Dell XPS M1530 looks great, and has all the benefits of Windows. Sure I won’t look as cool as the kid in Starbucks with a MBP, but I can sure as hell do something with it.
Oh, and not to mention the price tag. My M1530 with 4gb of RAM, 128gb SSD, Wireless ABG 2.4ghz cost $1200. How much does a similar Macbook cost? Sure you’re going to say it costs more, but it has a much better graphics card and has Intel Centrino 2 technology. Yeah, sure, but my laptop is over a year old, and it wasn’t even a new model then, and it preforms perfectly. IF I sold it, it would be like new if I wiped the HD. Mac owners? Just take a look at the palm rest and tell me you can sell that as “like new”.
By the way, I currently own a Mac Mini and multiple PCs. I’m writing this using a new Mac keyboard, and the right arrow key is awful, and it was broken since I bought it. At the store, they told me I could only return it if it was totally unusable, as in I can’t return it unless smashing it with my fist doesn’t work - but sadly that’s what I have to do to make it work. Nice job, Apple.

Ever notice the PC trolls are always more vitriolic than those with a mac, especially since the debate has surged to commercials.
My guess, PC users hate Justin Long. That and the fact they, apparently, can’t play WOW, D&D bullshit on a mac.
Remember this, the Angry German kid is a gamer, and a PC.
Enjoy the company!
March 17th, 2009 at 8:48 pm
that image of the mac and PC profiles is retarded, because the PC has like 8 USB things plugged into it, and the Mac has zero… FAIL
March 18th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
Get a mac… Simply fact..

For most of human history most people also thought slavery was a good idea. Oh how wrong we can be.
Macs are for the rest of us.

I’ve never blue screened of death in 12 years of using windows. Ever. What the hell are you doing to your computers?
April 1st, 2009 at 3:18 am
Wow. People have been arguing on and on and on about 10 simple little jokes since Sep 8, 2008. The truth of them doesn’t matter. People use Windows. People use Macs. People use Linux. I use all three. Can’t make up your mind? Hate an OS that is productive and love one that is artistic or vice versa? Dual boot! Multi-boot! Get a few computers! Stop wasting your time with this endless barrage and do something about it! Thank you for your time, and have a great day.

For this audience:
Macs are better for people who just want to get things done.
PC’s are for people who want to play with their machine.
think of it as
PC users like to masturbate
Mac users just want to make love

Everyone, just shut up. This article is correct. Apple Sucks. Full Stop.
Now, stop arguing and realise the fact that Apple sucks. That’s why Microsoft controls 90% of the computer market, Linux controls 7% and Apple ONLY has a measly 3%.
And, don’t say I’ve never tried a Mac, because I have and it crashes every day to your convenience. I trashed it and now I’m a proud owner of an Acer notebook running WINDOWS 7 that has never crashed.
APPLE SUCKS. NOW GET OVER IT AND ADMIT THE FACTS. Get a life and a Windows computer.

FUCK THIS GUY
I’ll name something you can’t customize on a mac.
RIGHT CLICK ASSHOLE!!!!!
